AngloINFO Holland South is The Netherlands’ first AngloINFO. It covers the southern part of Holland including the provinces of South Holland, Zealand, Limburg and North Brabant. The major cities of Rotterdam, The Hague and Maastricht are home to many major international businesses and organisations and there is a large expatriate population in the region.
AngloINFO Holland South launched in November 2006 with franchisees Nick and Jilly Ulrich. Both Nick and Jilly come from Bristol in the UK, where they first met before travelling in America for a year and then settling in London to work, Jilly as a nurse in a private hospital and Nick for an IBM maintenance company.
In 1996 Nick moved to Holland to work for a subsidiary company of KPN with Jilly and family joining him in 1997 and their two boys going to a British school in The Hague. In 2001 Jilly gave birth to their third son in the family home in Holland, not exactly planned, but nevertheless a welcome addition to the family.
Nick and Jilly have found Holland a relatively easy country to settle and communicate in as about 95% of the population speak some English. However, the many cultural and administrative differences still present many challenges and they are looking forward to building a successful, informative and much-needed support service to incumbent expatriate residents and newcomers alike.
