AngloINFO Poitou-Charentes serves the four départements of the western coastal belt of France, Charente (16), Charente-Maritimes (17), Deux-Sèvres (79) and Vienne (86).
AngloINFO Poitou-Charentes was launched in April 2005 and is run by Stephen and Hanso Garwood.
Born in Essex, Stephen read Drama and English at Bristol University before embarking on a career in Television Production in the UK. He has worked as a Director, but most recently as a Producer on a variety of TV Dramas including ‘Monarch of the Glen’ and ‘Sea of Souls’ for BBC Scotland which won a Scottish BAFTA in 2005. Having studied the language at school and worked as a location finder for various film productions in France, Stephen speaks fluent French.
Although originally from India, Hanso came to the UK when she was seven. She studied fashion at Barnfield College Luton and ran her own fashion business in Wimbledon for eight years before being interrupted by having twin boys – Rohan and Kieran. Seventeen months later a third boy – Nikhil arrived! While Hanso speaks English and Punjabi she has yet to master French.
Having always wanted to live and work in France, Stephen and Hanso jumped at the chance of the Poitou-Charentes franchise and decided to exchange their Bedfordshire village for the vineyards of the Grande Champagne. They now live in the Charente near to Jarnac and Hanso is determined to bring authentic Punjabi cuisine to the region.
