AngloINFO Costa Cálida covers the province of Murcia and the Spanish coastline from San Pedro del Pinatar to Águilas. Although the region is small, it encompasses a diverse terrain of mountains, plains and valleys, pine forests and sandy beaches. Its most striking geographical feature is the Mar Menor, a vast coastal salt-water lagoon separated from the Mediterranean ocean by a 22 kilometre stretch of land.
The Costa Cálida has much to offer both tourists and residents. It's varied geography and warm year round Mediterranean climate makes it a popular destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts. The Sierra Espuña regional park in particular is an ideal location to walk, hike, climb and mountain bike.
Water sports enthusiasts are attracted to the Costa Cálida for its Blue Flag beaches and the Mar Menor. There are plenty of opportunities to practice swimming, surfing, snorkeling jet skiing, sailing and kayaking. Tourist resorts around La Manga, Mazarrón, Águilas and San Pedro del Pinatar are well equipped for these sports.
The Murcia region is also culturally rich. Cartagena, Lorca and Murcia have some fine museums and sites of architectural interest including the Cathedral of Santa Maria, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Salzillo Museum. In addition Murcians celebrate a range of festivals from Semana Santa, where Salzillo's sculptures are carried around Murcia city to the Entierro de la Sardina, where a giant sardine effigy is burnt.
Acting Manager of AngloINFO Costa Cálida is Fiona Aris. Fiona worked for many years in magazine publishing before moving abroad to live in Norway, Greece and Italy. On her return to the UK she worked in media recruitment and in business teaching before joining AngloINFO as Business Development Director. She has two teenage sons, James and Nick and spends much of her spare time trying to persuade them to get up and do some work or transporting them to and from rugby matches!
AngloINFO Costa Cálida provides those living in the area - or planning a move there - all the features and benefits to which AngloINFO's users elsewhere in Spain and in France, Cyprus, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Singapore are accustomed.
