AngloINFO Brussels is Belgium's first AngloINFO region. Capital of Belgium and a founding member of the European Union, Brussels is the political capital of Europe and home to the EU headquarters as well as the head offices of other international organisations such as NATO. Brussels is one of the most visited cities in Belgium with over six million visitors a year, although a large majority of these come for business reasons.
Brussels is famous for its beer and chocolates as well at its Comic Strip Art; Tintin and the Smurfs and other Belgian cartoon heroes are all on display at the city's Comic Strip Art museum. Home to one of Belgium's main tourist attractions, Mannekin Pis, a symbol of Brussels since 1619, other areas of interest in Brussels are the many museums and the famous Grand Place, built as a merchant's market in the 13th century and renowned for it's baroque ensembles and Town Hall.
Acting Manager of AngloINFO Brussels is Fiona Aris. Fiona worked for many years in magazine publishing before moving abroad to live in Norway, Greece and Italy. On her return to the UK she worked in media recruitment and in business teaching before joining AngloINFO as Business Development Director. She has two teenage sons, James and Nick and spends much of her spare time trying to persuade them to get up and do some work or transporting them to and from rugby matches!
The diversity of both the local population and culture, together with the substantial size and diverse roots of the non-Belgian population make for a rich and multifaceted website, catering to all those in Brussels and the surrounding area with the information needed for life in Belgium, in English.
