AngloINFO Bangkok is the first site for AngloINFO in Thailand and is owned and managed by Gavin and Oranuch Wills. It launched on the 31st August 2007 and is quickly establishing itself as the No.1 information source in Bangkok.
Thailand is a large country with a land area similar to that of France: 511,770 Km2. It has a population of over 65 million and is visited by 13 million tourists every year. A wide variety of geographical and cultural features attract people from all over the world. Beautiful beaches, grand palaces, incredible temples and a large number of National Parks all serve as attractions. In Bangkok the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha are just two of the many attractions. Thai food and spas have gained a worldwide reputation.
Bangkok is a large city with a recorded population of 6 million although the actual population is far higher. Bangkok’s correct name can be translated as “The city of angels, the great city, the eternal jewel city, the impregnable city of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated god, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukam”. But locals call it Krung Thep!
Fully recovered after the 1997 economic crash, it is the economic and political centre of Thailand. A huge amount of development is taking place both in commercial and residential property and also to the infrastructure. A new international airport, metro and sky train have all been built in the last ten years helping to ease the traffic congestion. Many international companies have a local presence here as well as a large base of foreign media correspondents. There are a large number of international schools and hospitals in Bangkok that are of a very high standard.
Oranuch, more commonly know by her nickname Nuch (most Thai people use their nick name), has been living in Phuket for six years. She was working for a local real estate company where she met Gavin who was looking to buy some property in Phuket. Prior to this she studied in Bangkok and worked at the international airport as well as spending three years in Holland. Gavin and Nuch have two young children, Tunra and Daniel.
Gavin worked as an engineer on luxury motor yachts for twenty years. During a break from yachts he also finished a Politics degree and ran a small climbing business. Having used AngloINFO in France, Gavin realised that it would be an indispensable tool for anyone living in Thailand. AngloINFO Bangkok will help newcomers and established residents to spend less time trying to source information and enable them to spend more time enjoying the many delights of living in Thailand.
