AngloINFO Algarve is the second AngloINFO to reach Portugal, serving the Algarve region on the Portuguese south coast. The Algarve is divided into 16 municipalities and stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to Spain. It includes approximately 160 km of coastline and the main resorts of Albufeira, Lagos, Portimão, Sagres, Silves, Tavira and the region's capital, Faro. As well as being famous for its long, sandy beaches, the Algarve encompasses hills, valleys, the Ria Formosa Nature Park and the Monchique mountain range in the Serra de Monchique.
The region enjoys the best climate in Portugal and generally more than 250 days of sunshine a year and this makes it a premier destination for sports and outdoor activities. There are many golf courses and clubs in the Algarve including the San Lorenzo and Quinta do Lago South, which has hosted the Portuguese Open on numerous occasions. Many water sports enthusiasts are attracted to the area as conditions make it ideal for sailing, fishing, windsurfing, scuba diving and other activities.
Acting Manager of AngloINFO Algarve is Fiona Aris. Fiona worked for many years in magazine publishing before moving abroad to live in Norway, Greece and Italy. On her return to the UK she worked in media recruitment and in business teaching before joining AngloINFO as Business Development Director. She has two teenage sons, James and Nick and spends much of her spare time trying to persuade them to get up and do some work or transporting them to and from rugby matches!
