Company History

Launched in September 2000 following nine months of intensive editorial and technical development, the initial AngloINFO site, AngloINFO Riviera, rapidly demonstrated the robust nature, not only of the fundamental AngloINFO vision, but also of the unique technical back-end built to support that vision. The next two years allowed AngloINFO founders, Mike Hardaker and Wendy Wilson to perfect the core product and prepare to roll the concept out to additional regions. AngloINFO Bretagne was launched in June 2003, followed in April 2004 by AngloINFO Normandy.

In September 2004 Guy Marriott and Tony Salter joined the company bringing in the level of international management expertise needed to continue and accelerate this expansion. AngloINFO grew rapidly following this and, in August 2006, Elderstreet Investments Limited took a shareholding in the business as part of its ongoing global development strategy. Elderstreet are represented on the board by Paul Frew who brings with him extensive media and technology industry experience.

Operating Businesses

The majority of AngloINFO's local operating businesses are independent franchise operations which are individually owned and managed by the franchisees and their teams. By combining this independent entrepreneurial structure with a highly centralised infrastructure and detailed methodology, AngloINFO combines the advantages of larger company investment and management structure with a highly-motivated local presence.

For strategic and historical reasons, a number of AngloINFO's regional operating businesses are wholly or partly owned by AngloINFO, with AngloINFO Riviera, AngloINFO Provence and AngloINFO Languedoc managed by AngloINFO employees, operating as independent entities.

The People

AngloINFO operations are managed by a five-person management board comprising the Chairman, the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Information Officer, the Editorial Director and a non-Executive Director. The editorial and IT teams are based in two offices in the South of France with general management, business development and central advertising located at AngloINFO's head offices in Oxfordshire, England.
